Match Day 1 Report:

On Tuesday both SaskToba teams played in exhibition matches against The Atlantic Provinces combined teams. The games provided a chance for both head coaches to experiment and give some of the players game time without the pressure of the competitive games to follow. Standout performers, as stated by the Head Coaches, were Gaby Limon for the U15 Girls who came off the bench to calm the team and provide experience at Center back. Autumn Silva played very well in goal although they ended up losing 2-0. In the U16 game, Sara Moroziak, was the player of the game as they lost 3-0 in a game that looked every bit exhibition and lacked bite from both sides.

Match Day 2 Report:

On Wednesday, the U15’s Girls played against Alberta who had tied Ontario the day before. Alanna Shaw’s attacking running and power caused problems. Unfortunately, she could not find the finishing touch. The team now faces the very strong Ontario team.

Match Day 3 Report:

The U16’s gave just about everything they had to tie 0-0 against Quebec. Lead by Madison Wilford in goal who looks like the best GK in the tournament, Jessie Harland and Keeley Hicks Hart at Center backs. The team battled and limited the QC team to a couple chances throughout.

Match Day 4 Report:

For Friday’s games, the U16’s fought bravely once again and unfortunately succumbed to BC 2-0 with an unmarked header from a corner kick and a 2nd half counter attack. Harland and Wilford were again the standouts in a game that had some great attacking combinations and decent spells of possession. Definitely being in the toughest side of the draw SaskToba will finish third in the group. Alberta lost 6-2 to the QC side we tied 0-0 yesterday but edge out Atlantics for the bronze medal match on the other side. SaskToba will have to face Atlantics again unfortunately on Saturday and will make sure even playing time for all players is matched so players get the chance to showcase themselves in front of the national team scouts.

The U15’s were also to suffer disappointment at the hands of a the talented Ontario team. They fought bravely and remained true to their game however losing to Ontario 2-0. As in the U16’s they will now have to face the Atlantics for the second time this week. They hope to create more offensive opportunities and show they can keep building on their defensive resilience and offer more impact the other way to showcase themselves for the scouts.

Match Day 5 Report:

Better news on the boys side-despite suffering a HEARTBREAKING 2-1 DEFEAT WITH A 2ND HALF WINNER AGAINST ONTARIO; the U15 boys will compete for Bronze vs AB tomorrow. The U15 boys tied BC 1-1 in a game that had better chances and more offense. They now must face the tough test after a close defeat.
